How to change the default search engine in Firefox?

The default search engine determines which specific search tool is used when entering queries directly into the browser's address bar. Although many are accustomed to global search giants, users often prefer alternative services to enhance privacy or get specific search results.

To change the search engine, open the browser settings through the application menu or enter a special service command in the address bar. On the left side of the options page, find and select the Search tab, which manages all search settings for the program.

On the page that opens, locate the default search settings block. Here you will see a drop-down list of all available and previously installed search engines. Select the service you want to use as the main one for all future search queries from this list.

If the desired search engine is not in the list, scroll to the very bottom of the page and click the button to find more search engines. This action will redirect you to the Firefox add-ons catalog, where you can find and install integration with any search service you are interested in with a single click.
