How to configure virtual desktops in Windows to increase productivity?
Virtual desktops in the Windows operating system represent a powerful workspace organization tool that allows you to separate open application windows into different categories. This is especially useful for developers, system administrators, and specialists who have to work with multiple projects simultaneously without mixing work tasks with personal tabs.
To create a new virtual desktop, simply use the Windows logo key plus Tab keyboard shortcut, after which the task view control panel will appear at the top of the screen. In the upper-left corner of the interface, click the new desktop creation button featuring a plus sign. You can also use the quick keyboard shortcut Windows logo key plus Ctrl plus D, which allows you to instantly add a blank desktop without opening the graphical menu.
To switch between created spaces, use the Windows logo key plus Ctrl and the left or right arrow keys. This makes it possible to quickly move between the development environment, the browser with documentation, and messengers. Each desktop can be assigned a unique background or left with the default one, but window isolation itself helps significantly reduce cognitive load and find necessary information faster.
You can close an obsolete desktop via the same task view menu by hovering the cursor over the unnecessary item and clicking the appearing cross, or by using the Windows logo key plus Ctrl plus F4 keyboard shortcut. It is important to note that when closing a desktop, the applications running on it do not forcefully terminate their work, but are automatically transferred to the previous active desktop, which prevents the loss of unsaved data.
