How to back up bookmarks and settings in Firefox?

Creating a backup of user data in Mozilla Firefox helps protect you from losing important information during system crashes, operating system reinstalls, or when buying a new computer. Regular configuration exports ensure that your years of work collecting useful links remain safe.

To work with bookmarks, open the browser library using the management keyboard shortcut or via the main application menu. In the upper part of the library window, find and click the import and backup button.

In the drop-down menu that appears, select the backup creation option. A standard system file explorer window will open, prompting you to choose a folder on your computer or an external drive to save the file in a special json format extension.

To save a more complete copy of all personal data, including extensions, passwords, and interface settings, you will need to back up the profile folder. Close the browser, find the hidden Firefox profile folder in the system using your file manager, copy its contents, and save them in a secure place. Data restoration is carried out by copying the files back into a new profile.
