How to configure and use the miner blocking feature (Cryptoeid) in the Opera browser?

Modern web pages may contain hidden scripts that use your computer's computing power to mine cryptocurrency without your knowledge. The Opera browser has built-in protection against such threats, which is based on the ad-blocking engine and additional filter lists. Activating this feature allows you to significantly reduce CPU load and prevent rapid hardware wear when visiting infected or untrusted sites.

To enable hidden mining protection, you need to go to the main browser settings. To do this, click the gear icon on the sidebar or type the path to settings in the address bar. On the left side of the screen or on the main settings page, find the section dedicated to ad blocking and online security.

In this menu, make sure the main ad blocker is enabled, as cryptomining protection works in close conjunction with it. Then scroll down the parameters block to the additional filter lists and malware blocking section. You need to check the box next to the cryptocurrency mining protection item, which is often designated as NoCoin.

After activating this option, the browser will automatically scan downloaded scripts for known malicious code. If any site attempts to launch a mining process, Opera will instantly block this script. You can view the statistics of blocked elements by clicking the shield icon in the address bar while viewing a page.
