How to clear the cache in Google Chrome?

Answer

Regularly clearing the cache in the Google Chrome browser helps effectively resolve issues with slow page loading, incorrect website display, and freezing web interfaces. The cache is a special storage area where the browser saves website elements such as images, scripts, and styles to speed up subsequent visits. Over time, this volume of data can grow significantly and lead to application malfunctions.

There are two main ways to reach the required menu, and the first one is the fastest. For this, you will need keyboard shortcuts: on the Windows or Linux operating system, press the Control, Shift, and Delete keys simultaneously, and on a Mac computer, use Command, Shift, and Delete. After that, a pop-up window for clearing browsing data will appear on the screen.

In the opened window, you will need to configure the deletion parameters correctly so as not to lose important information. In the time range drop-down list, select the All time option to completely remove the accumulated garbage. Then check the box next to Cached images and files, while you can leave the other items, such as browsing history or saved passwords, at your discretion.

As an alternative path, you can use the browser's graphical interface via the main menu. To do this, click on the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the window, go to Settings, and then select the Privacy and security tab. Inside this tab, find the Clear browsing data item, which will lead you to the same cache configuration dialog box.

At the final stage, all you have to do is click the blue Clear data button at the bottom of the window. The browser will take a few seconds to process the request and free up disk space from temporary files. After the process is complete, it is recommended to reload the tabs with problematic sites so they load the latest data versions directly from the servers.
