How to restore deleted files?

Answer

Losing important files always causes stress, but there is no need to panic, as in many cases data can be returned if you act quickly and consistently. First of all, always check the standard Recycle Bin or Trash on your computer or mobile device, as deleted objects usually end up there and are stored until you empty the bin manually or until the system retention period expires.

If files were permanently deleted from the trash, built-in system recovery tools come to the rescue. Windows operating system users can use the Previous Versions feature for folders, and Mac computer owners can utilize the built-in Time Machine backup system. In addition, modern cloud services like Yandex Disk, Google Drive, or Dropbox keep a history of versions and deleted objects for a certain time right on their servers.

In a situation where built-in methods did not help, you should resort to specialized data recovery software. Popular utilities like Recuva or PhotoRec are capable of scanning the drive and finding lost files, but this only works if the deleted data has not yet been overwritten with new information.

The main rule of successful recovery is to act as quickly as possible and stop any active work with the disk where the files were located. The fewer new data are written to the media after information loss, the higher your chances of its complete and successful recovery using specialized programs.
