How to combine internal phone memory and a memory card on Android?

Some smartphone models running the Android operating system support installing microSD memory cards to expand space for files. However, the standard operating mode of a removable storage device allows storing only multimedia files on it, leaving system memory for installing new games and apps. To solve this problem, you can use the Adoptable Storage technology, which allows combining the memory card with the internal storage.

Before starting the procedure, be sure to back up all important data from the memory card, as during the setup process the system will completely format the drive and erase all information stored on it. Insert the microSD into the corresponding slot of your smartphone and make sure that the device successfully recognizes the new media.

Open the main Phone Settings and go to the Storage or Device memory section. Find your memory card in the list, open its parameters using the additional options menu, and select Format as internal storage. Follow further instructions on the screen, wait for the data transfer process to finish, and restart your smartphone to apply system changes.
