How to disable video autoplay in Safari?

Automatically playing videos and commercials on websites often cause irritation and consume extra traffic. The Safari browser provides built-in tools that allow you to control the behavior of multimedia content at the level of individual web pages or globally for all internet resources.

To change autoplay settings for a specific site, open the desired page in Safari and select Settings for This Website from the top menu of the program. In the small window that appears, find the Autoplay line and change its value to Block All Media or Allow All Autoplay depending on your preferences.

If you want to apply this rule to all sites you visit by default, open the general Safari settings and go to the Websites tab. In the left-hand menu column, find the Autoplay section and select it to display global parameters.

At the bottom of the opened window, find the When visiting other websites item and set it to Block All Media. This will force all unfamiliar sites to ask for your permission before starting video or audio playback. Now you can calmly read articles without fearing sudden loud sounds from website pages.
