How to import tabs from another browser into Safari?

Importing bookmarks, browsing history, and saved passwords from third-party browsers such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox into Safari is quite simple and does not require installing additional software. This process is especially useful when switching to a new macOS operating system or when you want to make Safari your primary tool for daily internet browsing.

To begin, make sure your previous browser is closed to avoid potential conflicts when reading configuration files. Then open Safari on your Mac and select File in the top menu bar, then click on the Import From option. In the appearing drop-down list, you will see the available browsers installed on the system, including Chrome and Firefox.

In the opened program window, you will be prompted to check the items you want to move to the new location. You can select bookmarks, browsing history, and passwords in any combination, depending on your personal needs. After that, click the Import button and wait for the procedure to complete, the duration of which depends on the volume of saved data.

After the import is finished, all your old bookmarks will appear in the Safari sidebar in a special folder created for easy sorting. Passwords will be automatically added to your iCloud Keychain if this feature is activated on the device.
