Muscle mass gain: how to progress in exercises?
For successful muscle mass gain, it is critically important to correctly combine strength loads and cardio workouts, as well as to view recovery, including quality sleep and a balanced diet, as an integral part of your training plan. Progression in exercises is built on the principle of a gradual increase in the working load, which forces muscles to adapt and grow.
To constantly move forward, you need to regularly record your results in a training journal, increasing the working weight, the number of repetitions, or improving execution technique. For example, if last week you did a bench press with a weight of 50 kg for 8 reps, at the next workout you should aim to do 9 reps with the same weight or add 1–2 kg.
Strength training creates the necessary stimulus for the hypertrophy of muscle fibers, while moderate cardio helps keep overall endurance and the cardiovascular system toned without compromising anabolic processes. It is important not to overdo the aerobic load so that the body does not start spending muscle mass as an energy source.
An equally significant role in progress is played by full recovery, which directly affects protein synthesis and hormonal levels. A full night's sleep lasting from 7 to 9 hours and the correct calculation of the daily calorie norm with a 10–15 percent surplus allow muscles to recover from micro-tears and increase in volume.
